The White Cliffs of Dover

Friday was the boys first day of Spring break and Greg had a goal day, so we decided to head down to the city of Dover. What a busy little town. We visited the Dover Castle and the secret wartime tunnels. It was a beautiful Estate. We walked through the keep are and saw where Henry II, and a few other Henry ect Lived and dined. There was a small chapel with in the Keep that was in very good condition. We also went down in some Medieval Tunnels below the castle. The stairs down below were very steep and cold and dark. We then took a tour through the Secret wartime tunnels. This was a huge highlight for us. These tunnels were carved into the white cliffs of Dover, used during world war II. There was a hospital, a barracks, a mess hall and offices. We went through two of the three different levels. It was really interesting to see smell and even feel some of this amazing history. The kids were all amazed and quite the little troopers with all of the steps and steep slopes. The weather was sunny and quite warm for England. The coast was foggy...whats new.
